On Thursday night plans for Circa Resort & Casino, the first "ground-up" casino to be built in nearly 40 years in Downtown Las Vegas, were revealed. Derek Stevens, owner of The D Las Vegas and Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, unveiled his plans for the area of downtown that once housed Las Vegas Club, Glitter Gulch, and Mermaids Casino. Along with Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Stevens showed off renderings of the new Circa Resort & Casino. The new resort/casino is set to open in 2020. It will include a tower nearly 500 feet high and is inspired by Las Vegas' history. Circa will also feature the return of the iconic "Vegas Vickie" neon sign, which sat atop the Glitter Gulch sign since 1980.
