Las Vegas' local Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) joined forces with Jack Daniel's to create the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select, 1 October Commemorative Bottle.
Two kickoff events for the $80 whiskey will be held at select Lee's Discount Liquor locations over Labor Day weekend. The first will occur at the Lee's Discount Liquor at El Capitan and Durango (7752 N El Capitan Way, Las Vegas, NV 89143) in the northwest part of the valley, on Saturday, September 1st, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The second event will take place on Sunday, September 2nd, at the Lee's Discount Liquor on Blue Diamond east of Decatur (4605 Blue Diamond Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89138), from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
Nine barrels were originally selected for the project (yielding 240 bottles per barrel) and, due to the whiskey's popularity, another 6 barrels have been ordered. Proceeds from the sale of the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select, 1 October Commemorative Bottle will go towards the FOP Nevada Lodge 1 response trailer (444NRT), local law enforcement entities that assist with officer injuries and line of duty deaths, and the Route 91 Victim’s Healing Garden. The local Lodge set up the trailer at Russell and Las Vegas Boulevard after 1 October, to assist all agencies with meals and counseling for 2 weeks after the tragedy. A portion of the proceeds from the $80 bottle will help with efforts to provide a mobile kitchen for future emergency response.
The Fraternal Order of Police is the world's largest organization representing police officers, with 330,000 members nationwide and 520 members in Las Vegas' Lodge 1.
