National Park Service Birthday Celebration at Lake Mead Visitor Center

  • Join rangers at the Lake Mead Visitor Center Aug. 25 to celebrate the 102nd birthday of the National Park Service. Come ask questions about the iconic parks found throughout the United States, including Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Birthday cake will be served at 12:30 p.m.


Free Water Smart Class: Drip Irrigation at Springs Preserve

  • This class, taught by expert staff from the Southern Nevada Water Authority, equips you with the skills to design and install a drip-irrigation system. Learn the complete installation from the street to the plants, including how to select and assemble components. Build a drip-system model right in the classroom and learn how easy it is to save water and have great-looking plants!


Native American Basket Craft at Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort

Lula Washington Master Class Dance Workshop at West Las Vegas Arts Center

Through song, poetry and narration, this musical/theatrical production beautifully draws you into how migration, suffering, work, love, sense of place, and celebration are expressed throughout the Americas. Americas3 is where Native lullabies meet Maya Angelou, and where Jazz, salsa, roots music, and rock and roll hang out together.

Fiesta Mexicana by Ballet Folklorico at Winchester Cultural Center Theater

  • Ballet Folklorico Sol Huasteco will take the audience on a journey through various states of Mexico with festive, flirty and fun folk dances. Jacquelyn Guzman formed Sol Huasteco in 2012 after her dance students at Rancho High School graduated but wanted to keep dancing. Since then the group has performed all over the valley, and many times at Winchester, including at the Life in Death Festival.
