Summer Family Program at Nevada State Museum: "Micro Adventures"

  • We’ll explore the tiniest parts of Nevada and see how much there is to learn when we take a closer look. Kids of all ages are invited to join us in the Education Room on Saturday afternoons from 1 to 5 pm to enjoy hands-on, drop-in activities. Families can explore Nevada topics through demonstrations, activities, and art projects. 


Friends of Nevada State Museum Presents: "Meet Nevada's State Fossil"

  • Paige dePolo is a visiting researcher at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas studying the ichthyosaur Shonisaurus popularis (our state fossil). A northern Nevada native, Paige graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2016 and recently finished a Masters degree in Palaeontology and Geobiology at the University of Edinburgh studying dinosaur footprints on the Isle of Skye. She will be headed back to Scotland this fall to begin PhD. studies on the mammals that lived right after the dinosaurs went extinct. When Paige isn’t spending time thoroughly puzzled by fossils, she enjoys reading science fiction novels, riding her bicycle, and sleeping in sunbeams.


Yoga On the Meadow at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

  • Trained yoga instructors lead classes for all ability levels on the green, grassy fields at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. Bring your own mat. There is no charge to participate.
