The Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association Core Balance Derby, Classic Challenge and Western Gift Show at South Point Arena & Equestrian Center


Storytime Train at Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City

  • 10:00am, 11:30am, or 1:00pm (the 2:30pm ride has been cancelled due to the heat)
  • $10 (ages 12+), $5 (children 4-11), 3 and under are FREE

  • Bring the kids (regardless of age) and have a fun time riding the train, coloring, doing a craft, and listening to a children's story.  Purchase regular tickets to ride the train and join our Storytime Crew in the dining car of the train, on the regularly scheduled train runs (10AM, 11:30AM, 1PM).  We furnish the coloring pages and markers, craft materials, and the story.  Sit with your kids, have fun, take photos or videos, and watch the beautiful desert scenery from the comfort of our train.


Superhero Day at Discovery Children's Museum

  • If you have ever wondered how Superhero powers work, then you will be amazed as you learn about the science behind them! DISCOVERY Children’s Museum presents an exciting selection of superpowers – come celebrate with us! We will be exploring the special forces unique to Superheroes. Visitors are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero while engaging in fun-filled activities designed to entertain and intrigue children and adults alike. Participate in our action-packed programs, explore the museum, and enjoy meeting Superhero characters who will be visiting throughout the day!


Kids Camp: Western Rodeo at Downtown Container Park

  • Bring your cowboys and cowgirls to Downtown Container Park. Kids Camp Western Rodeo will be a hootin scootin good time. Your ticket includes: fun games & activities, arts & crafts, and snacks. Only kids who are participating in the activities need to purchase a ticket.


Juneteenth Jazz, Arts, and Spoken Word Celebration at West Las Vegas Library

  • 12:00-5:15pm

  • Spend the day celebrating the spiritual essence of freedom and education on the resiliency of a people, whose lives continue to be the creative catalyst of Juneteenth Independence Day. This encourages critical thinking, conversation and reflection in the hopes that all can be acknowledged as we build momentum and unite Americans across the country, following legislation signed by Nevada and 44 states to date, to establish a national recognition of Juneteenth Independence Day with the purpose of bring all Americans together to celebrate our common bond of freedom through recognition, observance and historic preservation of Juneteenth in America. Co-sponsored by the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation, this event is one of a series of celebrations across the United States.


Summer Family Program at Nevada State Museum: "Scats and Tracks"

  • Kids of all ages are invited to join us in the Education Room on Saturday afternoons from 1 to 5 pm to enjoy hands-on, drop-in activities. Families can explore Nevada topics through demonstrations, activities, and art projects. 


DjangoVegas! Gypsy Jazz Festival at Historic Fifth Street School

  • This annual celebration of the music of Django Reinhardt and other gypsy jazz musicians past and present featuring Black Market Trust, Harmonious Wail with Bjorn Thoroddsen, and Hot Club of Las Vegas. Local musicians jam from 4-6 p.m.; this session will be open to anyone who wishes to jam with other jazz lovers. The performance starts at 6 p.m.; refreshments will be available for purchase. Parking will be available in the garage between Third and Fourth streets at Clark Avenue.

Astronomy in the Park at Mt. Charleston with Las Vegas Astronomical Society

  • Beat the heat of the Las Vegas valley and join us for a free Astronomy in the Park stargazing event at the beautiful Spring Mountain Visitor Gateway on Mt. Charleston. The public will be able to view through the telescopes of volunteer members of the Las Vegas Astronomical Society for free. We'll be able to show you Jupiter, Venus, and the first quarter Moon in our telescopes, as well as brighter galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters (and a just-rising low-hanging Saturn at the tail end of the event if it clears the mountains). It may be mid-June but you should still pack a jacket since temps drop quick on the mountain when the Sun goes down.
