In 2019, the Las Vegas 51s will be moving from Cashman Field to the new Las Vegas Ballpark that's being built in Summerlin. That move also includes a rebranding and the call for entries for the 51s new name ends on Monday, April 30th, 2018. The winner of the "Name the Team" contest will receive a $500 shopping spree at the team shop in the new ballpark, as well as bragging rights for naming the minor league MLB team.
You can submit your entry for the 51s new name here: "Help Us Find a New Name".
Rules for the "Name the Team" sweepstakes can be found here: Official Rules.
This wouldn't be the first name change for the team. From 1983 to 2000 the team was known as the Las Vegas Stars. The name was changed in 2001 after the team was rebranded to reflect Las Vegas' history with Area 51. A new mascot, a gray alien named Cosmo, was also introduced.
This summer marks the last time the team will play at Cashman Field, under the name "Las Vegas 51s".
