Pearl Jam just released their latest record, Dark Matter, with an exclusive world premiere on iHeartRadio on Friday (April 19). According to a press release, the album stands out at the band's twelfth studio album and their first album release since 2020's Gigaton.
It took bandmates Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Matt Cameron just three weeks to craft Dark Matter in its entirety, a time that each referred to as a "burst of inspiration."
The unmatched track list ushers in a brand new era of restored energy present in singles such as "Upper Hand," "Won't Tell," "Got To Give," "Setting Sun," and title track, "Dark Matter." Upon announcing the album in February, frontman Eddie Vedder commented on the new record, citing the project as the band's "best work."
“I’m getting chills, because I have good memories. We’re still looking for ways to communicate. We’re at this time in our lives when you could do it or you could not do it, but we still care about putting something out there that is meaningful and we hopefully think is our best work. No hyperbole, I think this is our best work.”
Ament expressed gratitude for longtime Pearl Jam fans and his "brothers" after completing the anxiously-awaited project stating:
"I couldn’t be prouder of us as a band. I feel so grateful for the fans, but mostly for my brothers and these people I’ve made music with."
Pearl Jam will release a special edition Dark Matter vinyl on April 20th to celebrate indie record stores across the country. As if unleashing an electric, "chanting and fist-pumping" new album wasn't enough, the "Just Breathe" standouts also announced a world tour slated to begin in May! The band will travel to nine countries and perform in 25 cities as part of the highly anticipated Dark Matter World Tour, kicking off of in Vancouver, BC on May 4th.
Listen to the musical mastery that is Dark Matter in its entirety on iHeartRadio now.
