Neil Peart To Be Honored With Hometown Tribute Concert

Rush Performs At Mandalay Bay

Late Rush legend, Neil Peart, is being honored in concert in his native Canada.

The tribute event, titled “A Night for Neil — The Neil Peart Memorial Celebration,” will take place on Saturday, May 16, at the Meridian Centre in the departed drummer’s hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario. The celebration is in remembrance of Peart, who died after a battle with brain cancer at the age of 67.

The event will benefit charities chosen by the Peart family, including Overtime Angels, the organization Peart’s band founded in 2014 to support individuals, families, and small organizations who don’t meet the criteria for assistance from larger social service agencies. Additional organizations listed as beneficiaries include St. Catharines Hospital & Walker Cancer Centre, the Juravinski Hospital & Cancer Centre and the Royal Victoria Hospital.

According to the press release, “A Night for Neil” hopes to “bring together a wide array of world-class musicians, production professionals, and guest speakers to pay tribute to Neil’s life and career.” The performers’ lineup for the celebration is expected to be revealed soon.

“We are grateful for the team that Overtime Angels is assembling. We are especially pleased to be able to support this charity event that will benefit some much-needed organizations that are close to our hearts,” Neil’s parents, Glen and Betty, shared in a statement.

Tickets to “A Night for Neil” will range from $49-$99 and will go on sale this Friday (February 28) at 10 a.m. local time.
