Beck Pays Tribute To Spongebob Creator

Last week the world mourned the loss of Stephen Hillenburg, who most knew best as the creator of Spongebob Squarepants. Having said that, Hillenburg meant many things to different people, and one person with a special bond to him was Beck!

Upon Stephen's passing, the singer/songwriter took to social media to pay tribute to him. Not only were the two neighbors at some point, but Hillenburg actually designed the artwork for Beck's first two albums!

Beck posted the artwork for them as well as this note:

“Very sad to hear the news of the passing of Stephen Hillenberg [sic], who years and years ago used to be my neighbor and kindly did the artwork for the first music that I ever released.

“I always remembered him as a genuinely sweet guy. I was lucky to get to run into him by chance at the airport a few months ago. Sending my condolences to his family and to all the friends who are missing him today and thinking about old times.”
