City Of Las Vegas To Close Playgrounds, Parks To Remain Open To Public
Those Visiting Parks Must Follow Social Distancing Guidelines
In order to continue to meet the city’s top priority of public safety all playgrounds at city parks have been closed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The city’s 70 parks will remain open for groups of less than 10 to visit as long as they practice social distancing.
Concerns were raised that social distancing was often difficult to maintain in playground areas. Governor Steve Sisolak also called for the closing of playgrounds because of so many high-touch surfaces.
The city will continue normal cleaning of the parks. Restrooms will remain open so people can wash their hands. Signs are being posted to stress that playgrounds are closed and the importance of social distancing, with six feet between people, and groups of less than 10 persons.
Park users also may want to bring hand sanitizer and/or disinfecting wipes if they touch surfaces also used by other people. The city will continue to update coronavirus information, including closures and cancellations, at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/coronavirus.
